Louisville gained a top-100 pledge during the weekend from Terry Rozier, a 6-0 PG at Shaker Heights (OH) High. Rozier played his way into the national top 100 after a strong summer in which he gained the notice of scouts and college coaches, including West Virginia, Cincinnati and Lousville.

And ultimately, the Cardinals won out. Rick Pitino made an inhome visit this past weekend, sealing the deal and bringing a very promising, late-blooming backcourt talent into the program. Flanked by Kentucky within the state and a legion of powerful Big East rivals outside it, U-L obviously must continue to recruit at a high clip in order to remain among the elite.

MORE MAJOR PLEDGES

The biggest news to break during the weekend was TX WG Marcus Smart committing to Oklahoma State along with teammate Phil Forte. Smart is an elite national talent and enjoyed a tremendous summer, and he greatly disappointed homestate Texas along with North Carolina, Kansas and Oklahoma, among others. … Illinois picked up a commitment from IL PG Michael Orris. …
