BARTON, CRAFT, OTHERS DECIDE

June 8, 2009

There have been a handful of major commitments, and starting at the top, it was the decision by MD WG Will Barton that caused the most attention.

An elite, top-10 wing, Barton chose Memphis over a host of major programs to give new Tigers boss Josh Pastner an enormous recruiting victory as the summer season begins to heat up.

In addition to Will, his brother Antonio, a 6-2 WG, also pledged to Memphis. Both brothers belong to the Class of 2010, and both play for Baltimore (MD) Lake Clifton. Will should become a star right away provided he can add a few pounds to his very skinny frame between now and the 2010-11 season, and Antonio should be a valuable, four-year reserve.

CRAFT PICKS BUCKEYES

It certainly came as no surprise that OH PG Aaron Craft committed to Ohio State. Previously a Tennessee pledge, Craft backed off that commitment in the late spring and ultimately decided to remain in-state for college.

Craft is one of the best perimeter defenders in the Class of 2010 and also is an intelligent driver and passer. Looking ahead, he mostly needs to work on his three-point shot to ready for Big Ten competition.

FULLER TO COMMODORES

CA PG Kyle Fuller will travel east to play for Vanderbilt. Fuller not surprisingly is a good student, and he also is a strong driver who should have the muscle to defend at the SEC level, even if he isn't the absolutely quickest player on the court at a given time.
